Currently, the rapidly evolving interface between Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the digital ecosystem confronts regulators with multiple regulatory challenges.
The Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT), the Mexican Regulatory Authority, sought to have a medium-term vision on the regulation of ICT/digital markets with a view to ensuring a predictable playing field, and helping reduce regulatory barriers and bottlenecks to innovation, economic development and investment. The IFT thus commissioned Axon to elaborate a Digital Regulatory Roadmap for the 2021-2025 period.
Axon, in close cooperation with IFT’s Strategic Planning Unit, elaborated a Digital Regulatory Roadmap for the 2021-2025 period, by looking into several drivers, including:
The Digital Regulatory Roadmap elaborated by Axon Consulting (available here) will facilitate the development of the digital ecosystem and contribute to socioeconomic development of Mexico, covering aspects that range from incentivising the development, deployment and efficient use of ICT infrastructures and networks; to fostering competition in the digital space; and promoting the adoption of emerging technologies and digital use cases across the society and the industry.
Such a roadmap will equip the IFT with the necessary tools to become one of the most important international references, at the forefront of digital regulation.
