CITC (Communications and Information Technology Commission) of Saudi Arabia passes new rules and conditions for IoT service providers in the country.
Axon Consulting was appointed by CITC in February 2018 to study the market needs in promoting take-up of IoT applications developed by local players in the Kingdom. A significant portion of existing and upcoming IoT applications depend on narrowband or broadband LTE and 5G networks. Therefore, enabling local IoT service providers to issue own SIM connectivity solutions is an essential enabler their inclusion in the IoT market. Inclusion of IoT service providers will accelerate the introduction of innovative services in the Kingdom which will be the main driver of the IoT sector growth and digital transformation of the verticals in KSA. The new rules and conditions make it possible for IoT providers to buy connectivity on a wholesale basis from mobile network operators and embed their own connectivity solutions in their applications and hardware.
The workshop related announcement is available at this link at CITC’s website.
